In August 2013, Marvin Gaye's estate claimed this song was plagiarized from Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” and publisher Bridgeport Music claimed the song sampled Funkadelic’s “Sexy Ways” without a license. Robin Thicke sued in an attempt to prove otherwise, but was unsuccessful.
