Erotica (picture disc)

~ Release by Madonna (see all versions of this release, 10 available)

Annotation

This is the infamous picture disc that featured artwork depicting Madonna sucking someone’s toe. It was recalled shortly after copies were pressed because a news story was circulating at the time that Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York, then‐wife of Prince Andrew) had been photographed doing the same. Most copies were destroyed, but a handful ended up on the collectors’ circuit.

Various counterfeit versions exist, which can be told apart from the official issue as a genuine "Erotica" picture disc:
1) carries a gold backing card, with the official "Madonna/Erotica" logo in the top-left corner. Counterfeit copies are usually missing this backing card.
2) has a white rectangular box containing its catalog # directly below the Maverick logo on the vinyl itself. Counterfeit copies are missing this box.
3) has "Orlake W0138TP" etched in the run-out groove of the vinyl. Counterfeit copies are missing these matrix etchings.
