My World 2.0

This album was released in January 2010 and the first song, "Baby", featured Ludacris is his most successful song (up to date). "Baby" is upbeat and was the song that pushed him into the spotlight.

The songs in this album are love songs and I believe that with "Baby" being released when he was about the age of 14-15, it has something to do with his experience. Many teenagers and youths can relate to these songs because they resonate with their experiences. Despite the society highly discouraging boyfriend and girlfriend relationships at the age of less than 18, many have experienced what a 'crush' is. Unfortunately, the feelings may not be mutual and thus induces a depressed state in these teenagers/kids. The songs in this album are probably songs that these teenagers would listen to as they feel the same way but are unable to put these swirling emotions into words.

"Baby" is especially known for the chorus, 'Baby baby baby oh baby baby baby no' and it repeats a few times. Like "Baby", other songs in this album is quite repetitive in the chorus. The lyrics are pretty straight-forward and blunt about his feelings. He likes this girl but the girl does not like him back (probably liking another boy) and he sings about the way he would cherish the girl, placing her in his heart. For example, 'whenever you smile, I smile' and 'if you need me, I'll come running, from a thousand miles away'. These lyrics are part of the song "You Smile". Very clearly, we can understand his feelings at one glance.

Another song in this album is "Overboard". The content of this song is similar to "Baby", except that it is more emotional. The pain he has to deal with when he was without her love. He was struggling and it feels like there was no improvement in their relationship, they were going around and around but nowhere near where he wanted them to be (most likely in an official boy girl relationship). However, he does try and from this song, we can understand more about giving and taking in a relationship.

Justin Bieber has created many great songs, and one of my favourite albums by him is "My World 2.0". Most of his songs have a very catchy tune, and is most appealing to teenagers. We can find Bieber's songs playing on the radio very often these few days, because of his song "Baby" which made him rise to fame.

Many people have very differing opinions on his songs. While his songs may be good, most tend to dislike him because of who he is and also probably due to media influence.

In "My World 2.0", the album mainly consists of songs about the love for someone. From his songs, it can be inferred that he is looking for love at that time, which is very common among teenagers. Hence, these songs tend to be more appealing to the young teenagers. On the other hand, his songs may not be appealing to the older generation, because of his style of music and lyrics. People from the older generation tend to prefer more meaningful songs about more important things, such as life, and hence would not find this appealing to them.

Bieber's style of music has changed over time. His recent songs have become more "techno", a rather distinct difference as compared to songs in his earlier albums such as "My World 2.0". It is up to one's personal preferences about which style of music is better. This is probably due to the increasing trend of more techno and electronic music. He has made the right decision to change his style of music as it will appeal to a larger group of people, so that he will continue to gain fame and popularity. However, there will still be many people who will tend to favour his earlier style of music, the songs which made him rise to fame.
