The Oscar Peterson Big 4 (a.k.a. "Oscar Peterson Quartet" - Peterson, Pass, NHØP, Drew)

~ Groep

Aantekening

This formation (known under a number of variants: Peterson Four, Peterson Quartet, etc), was first featured in 1980, with a line-up including old time friends Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass, Ray Brown and Bobby Durham, for a "trumpet" summit with Gillespie, Hubbard and Terry.

Though, this first line-up was the exception, and the "Big 4" were actually Peterson, Pass, NHØP and Martin Drew.
They will tour and record under that moniker during the early eighties up to 1985, while obviously they played together during a lot longer period of time in various sets/configurations.
